Wake Forest: Greg Dortch Undergoes Surgery, Will Miss Remainder of Season

Some unfortunate news for the Deacs

Redshirt Freshman Greg Dortch underwent surgery last night after his record breaking performance against Louisville. According to the official release, Dortch suffered an abdominal injury that required surgery Saturday night at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, and will miss the remainder of the season. This is purely speculation on my part, but I’m assuming the injury occurred when Dortch was hit stretching for the end zone in the 2nd quarter.

This is obviously some really unfortunate news for both Dortch and the Deacons, especially after Dortch’s 10 reception, 167 yards, 4 TD game yesterday, which saw him getting some national recognition.

Dortch will likely be replaced by junior Tabari Hines in the lineup. While losing Dorth is definitely hurts from a football standpoint, the important thing is that Dortch gets the medical attention and time to heal that he needs.

We are hoping for a speedy recovery and we can’t wait to see what Dortch will bring in his second season as a Deac. Get well soon Greg!
