Pitt's Desmond Reid has come on the scene from Western Carolina and is making his case to be one of the country's best running backs. He paces the nation in all-purpose yards at 244.0 yards per game. Reid is 5th in the country in rushing yards per game (146.5) and is 8th in yards per carry (8.9). Pitt vs. Cincinnati: The Pitt Panthers battled back from a 21-point deficit on the road to take care of Cincinnati, 28-27. Pitt QB Eli Holstein woke up from an early funk to finish with 302 yards and 3 touchdowns. Panthers running back Desmon Reid also was in the spotlight, finishing the afternoon with 254 total yards (148 Rush, 106 Rec, Rec TD). Konata Mumpfield came through in the clutch for Pitt with some huge plays, like his 38-yard score in the fourth quarter en route to 123 yards receiving, and 2 touchdowns. Pitt's defense held the Bearcats to punts on 3 of their final four drives, with their final drive resulting in a forced fumble.

The Pitt Panthers took care of business in their opening game of the 2024 college football season with a 55-24 win over Kent State. Eli Holstein had a great debut for Pat Narduzzi's club, completing 29-39 passes for 330 passing yards and 3 passing touchdowns. Nate Yarnell came in late and added a TD pass of his own. Desmond Reid had a heck of a game, rushing for 145 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries, adding a punt return touchdown as well. Kenny Johnson was outstanding, catching 7 passes for 105 yards and a touchdown in the win.
