UNC impresses at Pitt with 41-24 victory

North Carolina vs. Pitt: The #17 Tar Heels went on the road to Pittsburgh and came away with a 41-24 win over Pitt. Quarterback Drake Maye had another incredible performance, completing 22 of 30 passes for 296 yards and a touchdown (which he threw with his left hand). Maye also had two rushing touchdowns as well. Wide receiver J.J. Jones had his first career 100-yard performance, catching six passes for 117 yards. Tar Heels defensive back Alijah Huzzie had two interceptions and a punt return for a touchdown. For Pitt, Rodney Hammond Jr. ran the ball 14 times for 83 yards and a touchdown, and Konata Mumpfield caught eight passes for 90 yards.

The Pitt Panthers lost a tough one to West Virginia in the 2023 edition of the Backyard Brawl, 17-6. It was a defensive game from start to finish, with the two teams totaling just 211 total yards each. The Panthers struggled to get the offense going as Phil Jurkovec completed 8-20 passes for 81 yards with 3 interceptions in the game.
