Game Recap

The Fighting Irish don’t have enough in the tank for a comeback against Georgia Tech, drop to 1-5 in ACC play.

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish gave it their best in a comeback bid against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets on the road Tuesday night in Atlanta, but it wasn’t enough. They drop a 63-61 decision, and fall to dead last in the ACC at 11-8 overall, 1-5 in the league.

John Mooney did his best, registering 22 points and 14 rebounds. The man has been a double-double machine as he continues his impressive league run statistically. Nate Laszewski added 19 points of his own to go with his six rebounds.

Notre Dame shot the ball poorly, but were able to stay in the game until the last minute. The Irish shot 32 percent from the floor, compared to Georgia Tech’s 46 percent. That’s all it took to sink the Irish.

Notre Dame now stares down home contests with the third-ranked Virginia Cavaliers and second-ranked Duke Blue Devils. If ever there were a time for Mike Brey to work his magic and save a season wrought with youth and injury, it would be now. The Irish were without Rex Pflueger, Robby Carmody, and Juwan Durham for this one.

Stay tuned, Notre Dame fans. Good things are imminent for this core of young basketball players.
