Syracuse Orange men’s basketball center Bourama Sidibe will undergo surgery for a torn meniscus in his left knee, according to Syracuse Athletics. Sidibe, a 6-foot-10 senior, injured his meniscus in the season opener against Bryant.

Surgery is scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 1. Recovery time is expected to be four weeks according to Syracuse trainer Brad Pike. If surgery and recovery are successful, that could slot Sidibe up for a Jan. 2 return against North Carolina.

Against Bryant, Sidibe only played four minutes before suffering the injury. He did not return. The injury occurred on the same left knee that plagued him in his freshman season. Sidibe missed seven games in 2017-18, but played through knee tendinitis as Syracuse advanced to the NCAA Tournament’s Sweet 16.

Following his freshman season, Sidibe had surgery on his knee and returned for his sophomore campaign. As a junior, Sidibe averaged 6.0 points and 7.6 rebounds per game.
