For the sixth time since 2008, the basketball version of the Commonwealth Clash went into overtime before a winner was determined. The Virginia Tech Hokies outlasted the No. 21 Virginia Cavaliers, 95-85. Ben Hammond had a career game, scoring 20 of his game-high 30 points after regulation. Neoklis Avdalas, Amani Hansberry, and Christian Gurdak each scored 17 points with Gurdak adding 19 rebounds and Hansberry pulling down 15 boards of his own. Malik Thomas paced the Cavaliers with 26 points while Thijs De Ridder added 22 points in the loss. The Hokies improved to 4-0 in overtime games so far during the 2025-26 season.
