Friday night belongs to the NBA, and the marquee game is in San Francisco. Los Angeles Lakers at Golden State Warriors: the GameSim projection has the Lakers 121.6, the Warriors 114.1, a 7.6-point road call across 360 simulations. Two marquee franchises, a primetime stage, and the sims are not shy about the visitor.

My take: a road favorite of nearly eight points in a Lakers-Warriors game is the model planting a flag. Golden State at home is supposed to be the equalizer, and the sims are saying it is not enough tonight. If you believe in the Warriors' home floor, this is the number to argue with. If you believe the Lakers are simply the better team right now, GameSim just handed you the receipt.
The rest of the ten-game NBA card: three blowout leans and a coin flip
The sims are loudest in three buildings. Chicago at Boston: Boston 125.1, Chicago 106.4, an 18.8-point home call. Los Angeles Clippers at Minnesota: Minnesota 117.5, Los Angeles 99.3, an 18.2-point home call. And Orlando at Toronto: Toronto 119.8, Orlando 101.8, an 18-point home call. All three across 360 simulations, all three saying the home team wins going away.
The middle of the card is tighter. Houston at Dallas: Houston 123.2, Dallas 116.7, a 6.5-point road lean. New York at Philadelphia: New York 107.0, Philadelphia 100.6, a 6.4-point road lean. Denver at Phoenix: Phoenix 117.5, Denver 111.8, a 5.7-point home call. Charlotte at Washington: Washington 106.4, Charlotte 100.8, a 5.6-point home call. Indiana at Miami: Miami 113.9, Indiana 110.6, a 3.3-point home lean. And the true coin flip of the night: Detroit at Brooklyn, Detroit 110.9, Brooklyn 110.5, which is no call at all.
My take: when the sims hand out three 18-point home calls on one card, the card is telling you where the chalk lives. The value conversation is in the middle, where Houston, New York, and Phoenix are all giving points on the road or at home by six or fewer. And Detroit-Brooklyn is the game to watch if you like your basketball decided by one possession.
Friday college and ice: UCF by ten, Seattle by nearly two on the road
Four college games fill out the Friday card. Baylor at UCF: UCF 27.7, Baylor 17.9, a 9.8-point home call across 380 simulations. Kent State at Sacramento State: Kent State 21.9, Sacramento State 12.1, a 9.8-point road call across 680 simulations. Tulane at Charlotte: Tulane 26.8, Charlotte 22.6, a 4.2-point road lean. And in the Ivy League, Harvard at Dartmouth: Harvard 23.3, Dartmouth 17.2, a 6.2-point road call across 300 simulations.
Three NHL games round out the night. Seattle at Calgary: Seattle 4.7, Calgary 2.8, the widest lean on the ice. Winnipeg at Florida: Winnipeg 3.3, Florida 2.1, a road lean. And New Jersey at Vegas: New Jersey 3.9, Vegas 3.4, a slight road edge.
The report card: 11-for-18 on yesterday's featured card, and the totals held up
State it plainly first: yesterday's featured card went 11-for-18 on called winners, and the headliner flipped. Green Bay beat Carolina 27-19 at Lambeau after the sims had Carolina by a field goal, so the GameSim line finished 1-for-3, with North Texas landing and Portland missing.
The good news is real, and it is worth naming. In college, South Carolina State beat Morgan State 51-10, a 4.4-point call turning into a 41-point win, and North Texas beat Florida Atlantic 48-41 to hold the big home call, though Troy beat James Madison 24-21 to flip the 8-point home lean. In the NBA, New Orleans beat Sacramento 132-120 and Atlanta beat Cleveland 114-111 both landed, while Memphis beat Portland 124-103 to flip the 14-point Portland call, the biggest miss of the night. On the ice, the card went 6-for-10 on called games: Carolina beat Columbus 3-2, Los Angeles beat Ottawa 6-5, Utah beat Pittsburgh 4-3, Washington beat Nashville 4-3, Tampa Bay beat Winnipeg 6-4, and Detroit beat Chicago 4-1 all landed, while Dallas, Minnesota, Boston, and Anaheim flipped their leans, and the Vancouver at San Jose coin flip went to San Jose 3-2. And the matinee landed: Atlanta beat Golden State 80-69, the 5.5-point home call finishing as an 11-point win.
The closest calls were genuinely close: Washington 4, Nashville 3 against a projected 3.4 to 3.3, and Atlanta 114, Cleveland 111 against a projected 116.9 to 112.8. And the totals note is the kind of thing that keeps the model honest: Portland at Memphis finished at exactly 227 points against a projected 227.0, so the total held even as the winner flipped. Eleven winners right, seven wrong, a flipped headliner, and totals and near-exact scores that show where the sims still deliver value.
GameSim line: Lakers by nearly eight at Golden State, Boston, Minnesota, and Toronto all roll at home, and Detroit at Brooklyn comes down to one possession.
All scores above are MyGameSim projections from the simulations run so far, and none of the games today have been played yet. Yesterday the featured calls went 11-for-18 on winners, with the totals holding up even on the night's biggest miss. Run your own sims, check the totals and projected stats, and tell me where the model is wrong today.
