Game Recap

The Deacons' stop in Washington DC was short-lived as NC State's Maverick Rowan caught fire in the final 5 minutes to lead the Wolfpack to a 75-72 victory.

Wake Forest's 2015-2016 basketball campaign passed peacefully on Tuesday, March 8th in front of several family members and friends in Washington DC.  The Deacs were declining in health over the past two to three months and now face a long off-season in hopes of reincarnation.

Wake was led by freshman point guard Bryant Crawford, who finished with 19 points, 6 assists, and 6 steals and got solid contributions from Devin Thomas and Codi Miller-McIntyre, who ended their final game in a Wake jersey with 12 and 14, respectively.  However, this was not enough to take control of a back and forth contest, as Maverick Rowan's three consecutive three pointers late in the game put the Demon Deacs to rest for good.  Rowan finished with 24 points, including 6-13 from deep, while Wolfpack star Cat Barber poured in 22.

The killer for Wake came in the form of turnovers and bad shooting, as they committed 16 turnovers and shot only 37% overall.  Under Danny Manning, the Deacons are a mind-numbing 0-20 away from LJVM Coliseum against ACC competition.  Manning's squad finished this season 11-20 overall.

The Deacons lose Miller-McIntyre and Thomas, as well as redshirt senior Andre Washington, to graduation, but add at least 5 additional scholarship players next season in redshirt sophomore Keyshawn Woods and freshmen Brandon Childress, Donovan Mitchell, Richard Washington and Sam Japhet-Mathais.
