Wake's Aaron Rountree Breaks Hand, Out 4-6 Weeks

The junior forward did not receive the best news during this holiday season.

Wake Forest will be without junior forward Aaron Rountree for at least the next four weeks with a broken hand. Danny Manning confirmed this information to Dan Collins of the Winston-Salem Journal on Friday. Rountree suffered this injury in the second half of Wake Forest's 60-53 victory over the Bucknell Bison.

If Rountree misses four weeks, that means he could return as early as January 21st in a home contest against the North Carolina Tar Heels. That time frame would mean him missing six games, including home contests against Duke and Louisville. A six week time frame would have him returning for Wake Forest's February 3rd game against North Carolina State. That projection has "Tree" missing ten games.

Rountree is currently averaging 3.8 points and 3.0 rebounds per game. His defensive versatility, rebounding and passing abilities will be missed while he is out. Redshirt freshman Greg McClinton will likely see an increase in minutes as a result of his play against Bucknell and need to fill the role of an athletic wing defender. Wake Forest will have just ten scholarship players available to play on Sunday against Richmond (assuming Daniel Green is healthy).

We wish Aaron a speedy and full recovery.
