Game Recap

Wake Forest used a huge second half run to defeat Army for its fifth straight victory.

In what was a frenetic game throughout the entire 40 minutes, Wake Forest managed to blow out Army in the second half to win 109-80 and clinch its fifth straight victory behind a fantastic offensive output by the entire team.

Doral Moore led the Deacs with his first ever 20 point game, finishing with 20 points and 11 rebounds.

Army pulled close several times in the second half before a sequence of about ten possessions that saw Wake Forest turn an 5 point game at 78-73 with 9:19 remaining into a 99-72 lead after a 21-1 run with 4:30 remaining.

This is the first time Wake Forest has scored 100 points since defeating LSU 110-76 last season.

The game was not without some consternation, as the Wake Forest defense continued to be poor at times, particularly in transition defense and guarding the three-point line, where Army went 10-18 in the first half before cooling off a bit in the second half.

Wake Forest dominated Army on the glass, out-rebounding the Cadets 39-26 in the game.

Brandon Childress had what was probably his best game in a Wake Forest uniform, riding a hot shooting first half en route to a 17 point, 8 assist, 4 rebound night with only 2 turnovers.

Point guard Bryant Crawford also had a heck of a night, putting up 11 points and 9 assists, including a couple of very impressive passes for easy dunks.

Keyshawn Woods led the Deacs with 24 points on 15 shots and chipped in 3 boards and 3 assists as well.

I would also not be doing my job if I didn’t mention the great game by Terrence Thompson, who put up 12 points and 6 boards, including his first ever three-pointer as Demon Deacon.

Jordan Fox was as good as advertised for Army, scoring 21 points on just 10 shots for the Cadets, including 5-6 from behind the arc.

Freshman Chaundee Brown did not play due to a foot injury he sustained in practice this week. He is considered day-to-day. The Deacs don’t play again until heading to Coastal Carolina next Monday after a finals break.
