Wake Forest still has two available scholarships. Who is Wake trying to land?
Danny Manning still has two scholarships at his disposal. Austin Arians visited campus this past weekend, but there has still been no word on a commitment. Today, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reported that Wake Forest is in the mix for another post graduate transfer. That player is Houston's Ronnie Johnson. What would Johnson bring to Wake Forest's basketball team?

Ronnie Johnson is a 6' guard who is originally from Indianapolis. He began his collegiate career at Purdue, but transferred to Houston after two seasons with the Boilermakers. Johnson was a consensus 4-star and top 100 player coming out of high school.
He averaged 9.4 points per game last season, along with 2.9 assists, and 2.6 rebounds. He posted an offensive rating of 107.0. He made 80% of his free throws and 36% of his three's, but just 42% of his two's.
Johnson would be a nice addition, but he certainly would not be a definite starter on the team. Bryant Crawford is Wake Forest's point guard of the present and the future. I also expect Keyshawn Woods to start at the two-guard, so it's highly likely that Johnson would be a backup for the Deacs. He would be very nice in a reserve role, but Manning might prefer to allocate those minutes to a younger player like Brandon Childress.
The video is from when Johnson was still in high school. Obviously it's old, but it's clear to see why he was heavily recruited coming out of high school. We will continue to follow this situation, as well as others, while Manning attempts to fill out the roster for the 2016-2017 season.
