94 - 86 What a week for the Cards.
Despite scoring 10 points or more in every game but one this season, few, if any, Louisville players have been criticized more than Deng Adel.
Those criticisms are likely to be muted in the days ahead.
Adel scored a career-high 27 points and also pulled down a team-high 11 rebounds as Louisville outlasted Virginia Tech 94-86 Saturday night at the KFC Yum Center. The junior forward was 10 of 15 from the field, including 4 of 6 from beyond the arc.
Despite 16 turnovers, Louisville played one of its most efficient offensive games of the season. The Cardinals shot 52.5 percent from the field, 56.5 percent from three, and assisted on 17 of their 31 made field goals.
Quentin Snider continued to run the show effectively, finishing with 19 points and a perfect 8 for 8 line from the charity stripe. V.J. King scored 16 points, and Ryan McMahon was once again a bright spot off the bench. The sophomore guard finished with 10 points, three rebounds, three assists, two steals and one block. That wasn’t a mistake either. Check the tape.
Louisville’s win over Virginia Tech was its 13th straight over the Hokies. U of L’s only superior active winning streak is 14 games against Eastern Kentucky.
A week ago at this moment, it seemed like a 1-4 start in the ACC was a strong possibility. Fast-forward seven days and the Cards are one of just five teams in the league with fewer than two losses.
This feels fun again.
