Shortly after the news came out that the Notre Dame Fighting Irish were cancelling Tuesday’s practice amid new positive cases, they released a statement via Twitter that also says they are postponing this week’s game against the Wake Forest Demon Deacons in Winsotn-Salem:

Seven new players have tested positive for the coronavirus via tests that were administered on Monday. Combines with last week’s results, there are 13 players in isolation with 10 of them in quarantine.

Contact tracing means a 14-day absence from football activities. A positive test means a 10-day stop on football activities.
These are very high numbers — especially when you think about them in terms of possible position groups that were affected. Against the South Florida Bulls, we saw the BUCK linebacker position start out with what was essentially its third stringer in Jack Kiser.
As was stated previously, the Irish and Wake Forest both have open dates on October 3. depending upon how the results look moving forward, there could be a chance that the game is moved to that date.
There is no Notre Dame football this weekend.
