The headliner: Milwaukee favored by a run in a pivotal World Series Game 5

Milwaukee is one win from its first title, Tampa Bay is playing for its season, and the early sims like the visitors by a run. Milwaukee at Tampa Bay: the GameSim projection has Milwaukee 4.7, Tampa Bay 4.0, across 100 simulations so far. That is a one-run road call in a series Milwaukee leads 3-1 after Tampa Bay's 4-3 win in Game 4, and it is the kind of number that says the Brewers are not rattled by losing the last one. Check back later today once the lineups are confirmed for an updated prediction!
My take: treat this number for what it is, an early-morning count before lineups lock, when the sims are still building toward the fuller picture. The direction favors Milwaukee by a run, and the total is where the value conversation starts. After a 10-1 Milwaukee blowout in Game 3 and a one-run Tampa Bay answer in Game 4, Game 5 is the clincher if the sims are right, and a Tampa Bay win sends the series back to Milwaukee for Game 6. A one-run road call is no lock, but the sims are pointing toward the Brewers finishing it tonight.
The NBA drops a 12-game card, and Atlanta leads the board
Twelve NBA games tonight, and the sims are loudest in Atlanta. Miami at Atlanta: Atlanta 125.4, Miami 102.8, a 22.5-point home call across 342 simulations. Golden State at Minnesota: Minnesota 121.4, Golden State 106.2, a 15.2-point home call. Philadelphia at Indiana: Indiana 115.5, Philadelphia 101.4, a 14.1-point home call. And Charlotte at Detroit: Detroit 113.3, Charlotte 99.9, a 13.4-point home call.
More leans worth noting. New York at Chicago: New York 110.5, Chicago 100.2, a double-digit road call. Orlando at Toronto: Toronto 114.0, Orlando 103.8. Washington at Cleveland: Cleveland 116.4, Washington 107.5. Denver at New Orleans: New Orleans 118.7, Denver 113.6. Houston at Milwaukee: Houston 122.5, Milwaukee 118.3, a road call with some teeth. And the Battle of Los Angeles, Los Angeles Lakers at Los Angeles Clippers: Lakers 120.9, Clippers 117.7.
My take: the Atlanta number is the statement of the night, a 22-point home call is the model saying this one is not close on paper. The Minnesota and Indiana calls back it up, two more double-digit home leans on a card full of them. The Lakers-Clippers game is the one to watch for drama, a three-point lean in a rivalry game is basically a coin flip with better lighting.
The rest of the NBA card: two games too close to call
Two more games carry margins of a couple points or less. San Antonio at Utah: Utah 111.6, San Antonio 109.3. And Oklahoma City at Dallas: Dallas 110.5, Oklahoma City 110.0, a half-point call, which is no call at all. Those winner picks are lottery tickets. The value, as always, is in the totals and the player projections.
The NHL card: Colorado and Washington lead a four-game night
Four NHL games tonight, and the sims are loudest in Denver. New Jersey at Colorado: Colorado 5.1, New Jersey 4.1, a one-goal home call across 280 simulations. Philadelphia at Washington: Washington 3.2, Philadelphia 2.3. Calgary at Edmonton: Edmonton 4.2, Calgary 3.8. And Toronto at Seattle: Seattle 3.6, Toronto 3.5, a coin flip in every sense.
The midweek college pair: Middle Tennessee big, New Mexico State by a hair
Two college games fill out the Wednesday card. Kennesaw State at Middle Tennessee: Middle Tennessee 33.7, Kennesaw State 24.3, a 9.4-point home call across 420 simulations. Jacksonville State at New Mexico State: New Mexico State 28.3, Jacksonville State 26.1, a 2.2-point call, which is barely a call at all. One clear lean, one coin flip, and both worth a look at the totals.
The report card: 7-for-18 on yesterday's featured card
State it plainly first: yesterday's featured card went 7-for-18 on winners. The misses were real, and the NHL card did most of the damage. Florida beat Winnipeg 5-1 after the sims had Winnipeg at home. New Jersey beat Dallas 5-1 after the sims had Dallas. Buffalo beat San Jose 2-0 after the sims had San Jose. Carolina, Chicago, Nashville, St. Louis, and Anaheim all went the other way on tight calls too, and the NHL card finished 3-for-11. In college, Delaware beat Western Kentucky 35-21 after the sims had Western Kentucky by 12.8, the biggest miss of the night, and Missouri State beat Sam Houston 24-3 to flip the coin flip call. Those are on the model, no excuses.
Now the credit side, because the headliners held up. The World Series call landed exactly, Tampa Bay beat Milwaukee 4-3 in Game 4, the one-run home call finishing as a one-run home win, the closest call of the night. Vegas beat Ottawa 4-1, with Vegas scoring 4 against a projected 4.4, plus Minnesota beat Utah 3-1 and Columbus beat Philadelphia 4-3. In the NBA, Boston beat Brooklyn 125-124, the winner right even if it was a one-point squeaker instead of the projected 16-point roll, plus San Antonio beat Sacramento 130-103 and Portland beat Los Angeles 136-129. And the totals ran hot in the NBA, Boston-Brooklyn finishing at 249 against a projected 227 and Portland-Lakers at 265 against a projected 231. Seven winners right, eleven wrong, and the headliner exact. That is an honest split night, and the totals and player projections are where the value held up best.
GameSim line: Milwaukee edges Tampa Bay by a run in Game 5, Atlanta rolls Miami at home, and Colorado handles New Jersey in Denver.
All scores above are MyGameSim projections from the simulations run so far, and none of the games today have been played yet. Yesterday the featured calls went 7-for-18 on winners, with the World Series Game 4 call landing exactly and the NHL card doing most of the damage. Run your own sims, check the totals and projected stats, and tell me where the model is wrong today.
