The Deacs look to pick up their third ACC win on Valentine’s Day

The Deacs return home on Valentine’s Day looking for just their 3rd ACC win of the season. They have a solid chance to do that against Georgia Tech, who is 4-8 in the conference and has lost to Wofford, Grambling, and Wright State this season.

The Yellow Jackets are not an offensive juggernaut, averaging just 63.6 points per game in conference play (14th in the ACC). To go along with that, they shoot just 41% from the field (13th in the ACC), and 32% from the 3-point line (14th in the ACC).

The Jackets are led by Sophomore guard Josh Okogie, who is averaging an impressive 19.1 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 1.7 steals per game. At 45% shooting from the field and 41% shooting from beyond the arc, he is obviously the biggest threat for the Deacs in this game. Okogie is coming off a 25 point game in a loss at Louisville and a 29 point outing in a loss against Duke.

I’m pretty optimistic that the Deacs are going to get a win in front of the home crowd tonight. Georgia Tech does not typically play very well on the road, and has won just 1 away game all year (69-54 win over Pitt). While Wake Forest has just 2 conference wins, they have been within striking distance in almost every game, plus they typically play much better at the Joel.

Kenpom likes the Deacs by a score of 72-66. Ill predict that the Deacs win 75-67.
