ACC Announces 2013 Football Bowl Schedule

GREENSBORO, N.C.—The Atlantic Coast Conference announced the dates, networks and game times for its 2013 Football Bowl Games. In all, the ACC will have eight guaranteed bowl slots, with one additional conditional contract.

The ACC Champion, if it is not in the Vizio BCS National Championship Game played in the Rose Bowl Stadium, will play in the Discover Orange Bowl, which will be played on Friday, January 3, 2014, at 8 p.m. at Sun Life Stadium in Miami Gardens, Fla. The game will be nationally televised by ESPN.

The Discover Orange Bowl has the first selection of teams which qualified for the BCS after the five conference champions and/or their replacements, have been placed.

If two ACC teams are not selected for the BCS, the Chick-fil-A Bowl will have the next selection of ACC teams, and it will be played in Atlanta on New Year’s Eve, Tuesday, Dec. 31 with an 8 p.m. kickoff. The opponent will be from the Southeastern Conference, and the game will be televised nationally by ESPN.

The Russell Athletic Bowl will have the second selection of ACC teams after the BCS, and will be played on Saturday, Dec. 28 at 6:45 p.m. and will be nationally televised by ESPN. The opponent will be the first pick from the American Athletic Conference after the BCS.

The 80th Annual Hyundai Sun Bowl will have the third selection of ACC teams after the BCS and will be played on New Year’s Eve afternoon on Tuesday, Dec. 31 with a 2 p.m. kickoff. The game will be nationally televised by CBS for the 47th consecutive year. Only one other sports property has been televised consecutively on the same network longer and that is the Masters on CBS. The opponent will be the fourth selection from the Pac-12 after the BCS.

The Belk Bowl will have the fourth selection of an ACC team after the BCS and will be played this year on Saturday, Dec. 28 at 3:20 p.m. and will be televised by ESPN. The game will feature an opponent from the American Athletic Conference.

The Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl will have the fifth selection of an ACC team after the BCS and will be played on Monday, Dec. 30 at 3:15 p.m. and will be televised by ESPN. The opponent will be a team from the Southeastern Conference.

The AdvoCare V100 Bowl will have the sixth pick of an ACC team after the BCS and will be played on New Year’s Eve, on Tuesday, Dec. 31 with a 12:30 p.m. kickoff. The game will be nationally televised by ESPN, and will feature an opponent from the Southeastern Conference.
The Military Bowl presented by Northrop Grumman will have the seventh selection of an ACC team after the BCS and will be played on Friday, Dec. 27 and will have a 2:30 p.m. kickoff. The game will be nationally televised by ESPN.

The ACC also has a conditional bowl agreement with the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl should either the Pac-12 or BYU not be able to fulfill its commitment to the bowl game, and the ACC has an available, bowl-eligible team. The Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl will be played on Friday, Dec. 27, with a 9:30 p.m. kickoff. The game will be nationally televised by ESPN.
