The Orange stay active recruiting for 2018.
The Syracuse Orange basketball program has been busy on the recruiting trail of late as the reconfigured staff looks to get ahead of the 2018 and 2019 cycles. Tuesday’s news shows that those efforts could be on their way to paying off.

Three-star Brewster Academy power forward Nate Roberts has included the Orange in his top five, along with Nebraska, UConn, Wake Forest and Washington. Given former assistant Mike Hopkins’s national recruiting capabilities, it’s no surprise to see him in the mix for the Maryland (Bel Air) forward. But it’s still strange getting used to seeing UW involved in SU recruits as much as they have been since Hop took over there.
Roberts stands at 6-foot-8, and is ranked among the top 200 in the class of 2018. While their time together was brief, he was teammate of current Orange forward Taurean Thompson at Brewster Academy. That connection, along with SU’s power status compared to the other programs (some offense intended) probably helps Syracuse out a bit here with regard to his recruitment. He’ll also be a teammate of Buddy Boeheim’s this coming season there.
Should Roberts commit to the Orange, he’d be the second member of the 2018 class, behind fellow forward Darius Bazley.
