Game Recap

Every now and then on my blog I just have to let the fan in me really come out. After watching Georgia Tech literally get crushed by Kennesaw St 80-63, I don't see how this team can win more than 2 or 3 ACC games. Paul Hewitt usually does a poor job of coaching, that's a given, but he normally can put together a competent roster of talent.

This year's team is so unbalanced. The frontline is inexperienced and thin. The backcourt struggled last year and has one legitimate scoring threat in guard Iman Shumpert. Brian Oliver can shoot from three, but he's very streaky. Other than that it's a roster full of 6"2 to 6"7 tweeners that are athletic but not going to scare anyone with their basketball skill.

For Hewitt this is the roster he's assembled. There is no NBA frontline of Derrick Favors and Gani Lawal to bail him out There are no NBAers like Thaddeus Young, Jarret Jack, or Anthony Morrow on this team. The only chance this team had was if Paul Hewitt coached them up. We know that concept is completely laughable from the coach that has guided Georgia Tech to the fewest number of ACC wins  of any ACC team since the conference expanded to 12 teams.

Maybe I'm writing off the season too early, but what I saw tonight frankly was unbelievable and an embarrassment. Thanks Paul for what's sure to be a long season on the flats.
