Triad Pro Am Summer League Recap 7/15

The second week of the Triad Pro Am Summer League kicked off last night, and here are some of my impressions on the Wake Forest players in action.

Codi Miller-McIntyre

I loved what I saw from Codi tonight. He was in attack mode the entire night, and was able to finish around the basket now that he has added strength. He also looked much more comfortable playing the point guard position. He finished with 33 points, and I expect him to have a much improved sophomore season.

Aaron Rountree

Tree did a bit of everything tonight, as is his usual. He finished with 10 points, 11 rebounds, 3 steals, and 4 blocks. His jump shot seemed improved, though it still definitely needs work. Rountree is also incredibly aggressive on defense, which can lead to some turnovers, but it can also cost him to bite on pump fakes.

Tyler Cavanaugh

Tyler seems like he has trimmed down a bit, and is running the court better. He was working hard to establish himself in the post, and he knocked down some jump shots. Cavanugh will, however, need to improve his rebounding moving forward. He finished with 14 points.

Madison Jones

Madison appears to have been working on his jumper, as he knocked down multiple 3-pointers and had a much more textbook jump shot than what we saw during the season. He finished with 22 points, and should be able to provide some quick points off the bench for Wake Forest this season.

Devin Thomas

He was an absolute monster tonight. Devin finished with 36 points and 15 rebounds, on only 15 or so field goal attempts. There were several instances where to rebounded the basketball and then took it coast-to-coast.

Miles Overton

He finished with 15 points, but they didn't necessarily come easy. He has a decent jumper, but needs to work on shot selection.

Arnaud William Adala Moto a.k.a. Bill Moto

Moto looks much more comfortable on the offensive end. He was attacking from the top of the key, finishing around the bucket and demonstrated a nice touch from beyond the arc. With his length, I'd be looking to see Moto start at the 4 this upcoming season. Moto finished with 25 points and 11 rebounds.

Andre Washington

His conditioning appears to have improved and he is running the court more fluidly than he did this past season. He had 10 points and 10 rebounds despite the fact that wasn't receiving many post touches. He should contribute more this season than he did in year's past.

Coron Williams

Coron will definitely be an asset to the Deacs this season. He is a shifty guard who can score in bunches, and create his own shot off the dribble. He has a smaller frame, so I would expect him to defend point guards, while Codi defends the shooting guards. Coron finished with 26 points in an efficient manner.

Travis McKie

Went down with an ankle injury in the first minute of play and sat out the rest of the game. It did not appear to be serious, and we'll provide an update on his status after Thursday's games.
