Syracuse: Paschal Chukwu's Host Brother Walks On With Orange

SU adds a new walk-on who already has a relationship with one of the current players.

Sometimes it's not just about what you can do, it's also about who you know.

That's especially true when it comes to being a walk-on with the Syracuse Orange basketball team. Just ask Adrian Autry, Jr.

Now you can ask Ray Featherston about it as well. Ray is host brother to SU's Paschal Chukwu and he's also gotten a spot on the SU basketball roster as a walk-on.

Featherston attended Choate Rosemary Hall in Connecticut and played point guard in his final high school season. Prior to the 2015-2016 school year, he attended Fairfield Prep in Connecticut, the same high school Chukwu played two seasons at before committing to Providence. Featherston, a 5-foot-9 point guard, tore his ACL on Dec. 30, 2014, and missed the remainder of what would be his final season with the Jesuits.

Featherston joins a large contingent of walk-ons on the roster that includes Autry, Evan Dourdas, Ky Feldman, Shaun Belbey, Jonathan Radner, Mike Sutton and Doyin Akintobi-Adeyeye. With only eight scholarship players on the squad right now, SU could use the depth if for no other reason than to make bench celebrations as good as they can be.
