Syracuse remains in the hunt.
As the fall basketball recruiting period heats up the Syracuse Orange continue to make noise in the 2018 class. Nate Roberts, a three-star recruit at Brewster Academy, trimmed his recruitment down to three schools last night, per his twitter page.

The news comes at an important juncture as Roberts is headed to Syracuse this weekend for an official visit. An interesting caveat, Roberts will coincidentally head to Central New York with Brewster teammate Buddy Boeheim. It must just be total happenstance.
Roberts is from Baltimore and is listed anywhere from 6-foot-9 to 6-foot-11 on various recruiting databases and is a consensus three-star recruit sans ESPN (four-star there). He’s from Baltimore and runs with Team Melo on the AAU circuit. That’s important for reasons that elude me at the time of this writing. Perhaps you can help?
Oh. And he’s also teammates with the aforementioned Buddy Boeheim at Brewster, which has proven to be a nice (or not nice depending on your disposition) recruiting pipeline for the Orange over the years. Syracuse has reeled in guys such as Chris McCullough, Ron Patterson, Taurean Thompson and CJ Fair.
CJ — who played forward at Syracuse — was from Baltimore, MD. This is also important.
On a more serious note, kudos to the staff for timing Buddy’s announce date with Jalen Carey’s visit and kudos for having Buddy visit along with Roberts. Both are savvy moves — you can’t fault the coaching staff for taking advantage.
Anyway, I’m not trying to say this is a shoo-in but if anyone were to take his services away from Syracuse, it would probably be the former heir apparent to Jim Boeheim. Mike Hopkins remains in the hunt for Roberts as well and Hop has done an exceptional job recruiting northeast soil since his departure from Syracuse. That said, I’d think it’s more likely than not that Syracuse lands Roberts. Maybe we can get him in a No. 33 jersey?
