And it’s official.

Class of 2018 shooting guard Buddy Boeheim has verbally committed to the Syracuse Orange, he announced via Twitter earlier today.

Boeheim joins Darius Bazley as the second commit for the 2018 class.

In a video, Boeheim explains his decision:

He wants to play in front of 30,000 screaming fans every home game, he wants to win a national championship, but most importantly he wants to play for his father. In the tweet, Buddy said this is all he ever wanted growing up. Now he has it.

Boeheim will attend Brewster Academy this season, where he will continue to develop his already impressive game. He’s a 6-foot-5 sharp-shooter who’s only getting better.

There has also been speculation on whether or not Buddy will use a scholarship — he won’t, according to Syracuse.com’s Mike Waters. It’s a big-time addition, and the fact that SU added someone who can contribute for four years without using a scholarship makes it that much more impressive. (Finally something went Syracuse’s way in regards to the NCAA).

The 247Sports composite lists Boeheim as a Top 200 player in the 2018 class, and the 45th-best shooting guard.

Roughly ten schools reached out to Boeheim, including Georgetown, but there was never a doubt where he’d ultimately be heading.

Don’t expect Boeheim to redshirt next season for the Orange. He’ll be ready to contribute right away.
