In light of the number one football team in the country coming to the Carrier Dome this weekend, top basketball recruits Malachi Richardson and Tyus Battle will be on campus for their official visits.

Two top basketball recruits will be visiting Syracuse this week and will attend the football game against the top-ranked Florida State Seminoles at the Carrier Dome.

Malachi Richardson, who already committed and is ranked 19th in ESPN's class of 2015 rankings, will be on campus along with class of 2016 shooting guard Tyus Battle, ranked 14th for his year by ESPN. He has been offered a scholarship, but is still considering a handful of other options.

Both players play in New Jersey. Richardson, a 6'6" guard/forward, hails from Hamilton and plays for Trenton Catholic. Battle, a 6'5" guard, is from Edison and plays at Gill St. Bernard's School. Richardson is apart of a Syracuse recruiting class that already has for commitments and is one of the top recruiting classes in the nation thus far. After an unofficial visit last winter when the Indiana Hoosiers came to the Carrier Dome for a basketball game, this time around will be his official visit. He wanted to come for the Duke game in February, but decided to come before his high school season started, giving him the ability to see basketball practice and watch some football.

Battle, on the other hand, is making his unofficial visit. The youngster hopes to narrow down his choices to 10 before his junior season starts, and the Orange hope to make the cut. He has already visited Connecticut, Louisville, Michigan and Kentucky and has another planned visit with the Wildcats and Duke. He was also in attendance for last year's Duke game, which set an on-campus record for attendance.

It is pretty cool that the guys can come out and experience multiple aspects of Syracuse this weekend. Unfortunately the Orange will probably get smacked around by Jameis Winston and the Seminoles, but at least the guys can get in the Carrier Dome and see a Heisman Trophy winner. Plus, being able to see practice and talk to some of the guys and coaches is something that is an essential part of the recruiting process.

The visits of these guys could make the weekend just as important for the basketball team as it is for the football team.
