Syracuse opened in man-to-man, man.

Well, it’s the end of the world as we know it. Later this month Donald Trump or Hilary Clinton will be voted into office, the city of Syracuse is considering light rail transportation and above all else, Jim Boeheim’s team opened up tonight’s contest in man-to-man defense. What is going on here?

Anyway, the Indiana University of Pennsylvania Crimson Hawks came into the Carrier Dome just 20 months removed from the Division-II National Championship game and gave the Orange a run for its money before falling to Syracuse 83-65.

The Hawks led by as much as 15 in the first half but Syracuse was able to go on an 18-2 run to gain a three point lead. For what it’s worth, Syracuse went on its run utilizing its press and playing zone in the half-court.

In the second half Syracuse pulled away by playing heady defense. In total, the Orange forced 13 turnovers and blocked seven shots in the win.

Tyus Battle buoyed Syracuse with 13 points in the first half on three triples. He finished the night as the high-point man with 16. Tyler Lydon had a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds while Tyler Roberson chipped in 14 points of his own. Syracuse had nine players score, four of which were in double-figures.

The Orange will get back in the lab (Read: Melo) before hosting Le Moyne next Tuesday. Same time, same place.
