Syracuse took control early behind quarterback Amari Odom, who accounted for six total touchdowns, including three scoring strikes to Umari Hatcher to help build a 34-14 lead. However, the UConn offense ignited late by scoring 20 unanswered points in the second half, highlighted by a game-tying 71-yard touchdown run from Cyncir Bowers. After the Huskies scored to open overtime, Odom answered with a 17-yard touchdown pass to Hatcher on fourth-and-17 and then ran in the game-winning two-point conversion himself to lock down the 42-41 win.
