Syracuse received a massive commitment from Nadarius Fagan, who is one of the most highly rated prospects Syracuse received a pledge from.

Syracuse has picked up their 15th verbal commitment and their second this week according to Ryan Bartow of 247sports.com.

Fagan is a 6-foot 2 200-pound linebacker that attends Southridge High School in South Florida.

Fagan is among the most highly touted Syracuse recruits in recent memory, in terms of the offers SU was able to beat out. He chose the Orange over offers from the likes of USC, LSU and Nebraska. Fagan led all of Dade County, one of the most talent-rich football regions in America, in tackles last season with 141. Fagan also compiled four sacks and forced two fumbles.

Fagan is very quick and appears to be a big hitter in the open field. His lateral quickness should also allow him to cover tight ends and and wide receivers (a big part of linebackers’ roles in this Tampa-2 defense).

Fagan added this about Syracuse and credits Orange DBs coach Nick Monroe, who did the recruiting:

“It’s a better fit for me academically and athletically,” Fagan said. “Coach Monroe did a great job of recruiting me,” Fagan said. “He kept it real with me the whole process. That’s what I was looking for. He was honest.”

He discussed what he will bring to the table:

“Syracuse is getting a guy that’s going to bring a lot to the table.” Fagan added, “I am going to bring leadership and everything else they are looking for.”

Fagan visited the Syracuse campus last month and just came home from a three day visit at LSU.

247 is reporting that Fagan will be an early enrollee, but added that he will take his five official visits in the fall. Hopefully the Orange will be able to hang on to Fagan and earn his services.

Syracuse now has four linebacker commits in the class of 2017 and only have three open scholarships.
