Recruiting: Did Buddy Boeheim just commit to Syracuse?

Seems like it.

On Friday morning, ESPN’s Jeff Goodman posted a story entitled “The Boeheims are Ready to Take the Floor Together,” talking up Buddy Boeheim’s ascension as a top recruit and his relationship with his dad, Jim.

The Syracuse Orange apparently offered Buddy in June (would he even need to take up a scholarship?), fulfilling a lifelong dream for the younger Boeheim.

Goodman says there has been no formal announcement about where Buddy will play, but he’s about as confident as you can be that he will be suiting up for Syracuse.

“After spending his senior year at prep school powerhouse Brewster Academy in New Hampshire, Buddy Boeheim will play for his father in 2018-19. Jim Boeheim is going to end his career coaching his kid.”

Buddy pretty much speaks with similar confidence:

"We're going to try and win it all together and end his career with a national championship... I'm not going anywhere else. I just want to wait and get the AAU season over with before I make the decision... I think I probably have to tell him to make it official."

So there you have it. Syracuse pretty much makes an addition for the 2019 class (they have some big offers out elsewhere too), and there’s the great story of a father-son duo as well. This is great news coming on the heels of some nonsensical Georgetown chatter last night.

It’s also far from the last time we’ll hear the father/son talk around the Boeheims given what the 2017-18 schedule looks like for the Orange. Syracuse begins this season with the Cornell Big Red (and Jimmy Boeheim) at the Carrier Dome on November 10.

A preemptive congrats to the Boeheims here, and to us for the copious amounts of #content now in store.
