When digging into the Wake Forest schedule one things sticks out in particular and that is they have a very easy non-conference schedule in which should start them out 3-0 quickly with Elon, Vanderbilt and Old Dominion before squaring off with ACC competition.

The Deacs won’t have Sam Hartman behind center in 2023 as he entered the transfer portal during the offseason and committed to Notre Dame thus leaving a big question mark at the quarterback position heading into 2023.

With that comes the question of, not if, but can Mitch Griffis, who is presumed to be the starting quarterback lead the Deacs to a winning season in 2023. Dave Clawson is special as a head coach and was rumored for a while to leave for bigger and better opportunities but chose to stick it out with Wake Forest and has been mentioned as a quarterback guru in some media outlets, but can he be the voice of reason for Griffis will be left unchallenged until Week 4 against Georgia Tech.

Wake Forest record prediction:

  • Elon – W
  • Vanderbilt – W
  • Old Dominion – W
  • Georgia Tech – W
  • Clemson – L
  • Virginia Tech – W
  • Pitt – L
  • Florida State- L
  • Duke – W
  • NC State – L
  • Notre Dame – L (Hartman and ND blow out WF)
  • Syracuse – L

Sorry Deac fans … I know you all will hate it, but it comes with the unknown of not knowing how the quarterback role will work this year. Record prediction (6-6, 3-5). Good news is the Deacs go bowling in 2023, but barley.
