After a lopsided first half found Virginia Tech up 24-3, the Yellow Jackets started the second half with a renewed intensity. On the third snap of the half, GT running back Trelain Maddox broke free for a 42-yard touchdown run, the defense followed up with two sacks, and then Georgia Tech quickly scored again. After this change of momentum, the Yellow Jackets were back in the game. But the Hokies' running back Jeffrey Overton Jr. scored with a huge play after the catch to regain control. The Hokies would go on to win 34-24.
