Maryland OT Dakota Davis Commits to Syracuse

Busy week for Dino Babers and staff, as they add yet another recruit.

It's been a busy week for Syracuse Orange football recruiting, and that trend continued today.

Scout reports that Maryland (Glenelg High School) offensive tackle Dakota Davis has committed to Syracuse. The 6-foot-5, 312-pound lineman is rated two stars. He chose an offer from the Orange over schools like UConn, Air Force, Ohio, Old Dominion, Florida Atlantic and a slew of FCS options too.

Davis, who was recruited by resident DMV-area expert and tight ends coach Reno Ferri, told Scout about why he committed:

"(It was the) academics and what I wanted to study. I was waiting for the 'Cuse offer. I really liked the atmosphere, the coaching staff and it has great academics."

Aside from having a pretty solid name for an offensive lineman, Davis is the seventh member of the 2017 class, and the fourth addition in the past week. Receivers Josh Palmer and Nykeim Johnson were added on the offensive side of the ball, while outside linebacker Tyrell Richards joined on defense.

With a lot of offensive line depth right now, Davis may be the only player added there for the Orange this cycle, especially considering their minimal available scholarships for 2017 and the more glaring needs on the defensive line, plus wide receiver and the secondary.

Tape on Davis below, for those interested. Welcome aboard, Dakota!
