Louisville's Jaire Alexander is day-to-day

Good news after a scary injury.

Perhaps the worst moment for Louisville in Saturday night’s nip-and-tuck win over Purdue came in the first half when All-American cornerback Jaire Alexander suffered what appeared to be a nasty leg injury while attempting to return a blocked field goal.

Alexander did not play again in the game, leaving fans to speculate whether or not the Cardinals’ top defensive player would see the field again in 2017. Thankfully, it appears as though he will, and it should be in the relatively near future.

Alexander’s father expanded a bit more to The Courier-Journal.

"Everything is all good. He is day to day. (It was) not a major injury, thank God," Landis Alexander texted the C-J’s Jeff Greer on Sunday. "... (It) could have been really bad."

Whether or not “all good” translates to “able to play against North Carolina on Saturday” is something that will be followed throughout the week.

In Alexander’s absence, senior corner Ronald Walker stepped up and made several key plays down the stretch as the Purdue offense attempted to pull off the upset for the Boilermakers. If Alexander isn’t able to go against UNC, one can assume that Walker and Trumaine Washington will be Louisville’s starting corners.
