Game Recap

Despite travel problems, a few extended scoring droughts and a concussion for Deng Adel, Louisville managed to grind out a 65-50 road win over Georgia Tech Saturday afternoon.

Donovan Mitchell knocked down 5-of-7 three-pointers on his way to a team-high 20 points to go along with three blocks on the defensive end. Quentin Snider chipped in 12 points, while Anas Mahmoud continued his dominance of the Yellow Jackets with 10 points, five rebounds and a pair of blocks.

Georgia Tech trailed by double figures for the majority of the afternoon, but managed to make things interesting in the second half thanks almost entirely to the play of leading scorer Ben Lammers. The junior center notched a career-high 24 points to go with nine rebounds and three blocks. Freshman guard Josh Okogie was the only other Jacket in double figures, scoring 15 points.

It wasn't the most sparkling performance of the season, but given everything that went down before and during the game, beating an ACC team on the road by 15 points is an agreeable conclusion.

The biggest issue for Louisville now as it turns its attention to a huge week that features games against Pitt and Duke is what to do at the three spot. Based on the way Adel looked walking off the court, I'm not holding my breath that he'll be available for either game. With his chance to shine finally in front of him, V.J. King looked like a completely lost freshman, which forced Rick Pitino to play David Levitch at the three during the game's most crucial minutes. King will likely get the start at that position on Wednesday, but he'll have to be much better than he was this afternoon if he wants to spend more time on the court.
