Is the ACC Pac 12 TV Merger still on the table?

Back in August, we wrote about the possibility of a TV partnership between the Pac 12 and the ACC.

Three months later this might still be on the table according to a member of the Pac 12 Media John Canzano in his weekly column.   From his article…

I also expect the Pac-12 will announce plans to drop from nine conference football games to eight, perhaps in time for the 2024 season. Merton Hanks, the Pac-12’s supervisor of football, told me early this season that there’s support for that scheduling move.

It’s why crossover games vs. ACC opponents make sense. Some of them might even become lucrative revenue-generating events.

If the Pac 12 goes to 8 games, the chances of this happening go way up. Why else would the Pac 12 agree to this?

Should the ACC agree to this? I’m all for it if it any way increases revenue for the ACC, which should be the beginning and the end of every ACC decision. Does it increase revenue or not?

Even without UCLA and USC they could be some quality matchups with brands like Oregon and Washington still in the Pac 12. Also if the Big 10/ACC Challange goes away, another OOC basketball series could be setup.

We’ll see, but keep an eye on if the Pac 12 reduces the number of their conference games.
