Freshman Quarterback Travis Smith will transfer from Wake Forest.

Freshman quarterback Travis Smith has decided to leave the Wake Forest football program, and will transfer to another school. Smith was a member of the 2014 recruiting class and was set to redshirt this season after fellow 2014 quarterback recruit John Wolford earned the starting quarterback job. By transferring now and not at the end of the season, Smith should be eligible to play at his new school next season instead of losing another year of eligibility. At this time it is unknown where Smith will end up, but he originally chose Wake Forest over Toledo.

In 2013, Smith was named Gatorade's Michigan High School Football Player of the Year, after he completed 188 of 264 passing attempts (71.2%) for 3,278 yards, 42 touchdowns and just 7 interceptions. The dual threat also ran the ball 91 times for 640 yards and 10 touchdowns. Throughout the duration of his high school career as the starting quarterback, his team went 41-0, won three state championships and threw for 8,044 yards. He also had 104 passing touchdowns and had 155 total touchdowns, both of which are Michigan records.

We wish Travis the best of luck at his future school.
