Former Manual High standout Dwayne Sutton has announced that he will transfer from UNC Asheville to Louisville. After sitting out next season per NCAA transfer rules, Sutton will have three seasons of eligibility remaining.

While Louisville does have one open scholarship at the moment, Sutton will be joining the program as a preferred walk-on, which is quite the bonus for U of L.

Sutton averaged 12.7 ppg and 7.7 rpg as a true freshman starter for UNC Asheville this past season. He was named the Most Valuable Player of the Big South Tournament after scoring 25 points and snagging 18 rebounds in the Bulldogs' 77-68 win over Winthrop. Sutton then scored 11 points in the team's NCAA Tournament loss to eventual national champion Villanova.

"I'm excited," Sutton told Scout.com. "I know I am a scholarship player so (the walk-on part) is not a big deal to me. I'm playing at the highest level.

"Coach Pitino said he's looking forward to coaching me. My mom and dad went and met with coach Johnson and coach Padgett and they were watching my film. They said I can help them, and I know I can."

And making a solid move to the basket against 'Nova:

Not bad for a guy who won't be using up a scholarship (at least not yet).

This is good news.
