Codi Miller-McIntyre to Miss 4-6 Weeks with Foot Fracture

The star Demon Deacon will miss significant time.

The Wake Forest basketball program announced some devastating news on Monday afternoon. Head basketball coach, Danny Manning announced that senior guard, Codi Miller-McIntyre will miss 4-6 weeks with a foot fracture. He underwent surgery this past weekend. Codi led the team in scoring last season at 14.5 points per game. He also had one of the best assist rates in the country.

An optimistic time frame of four weeks means that Codi will be out until at least November 16th. If he is able to return at that time, then he will only miss games against UMBC and Bucknell. However, the team also plays a game against Richmond on the 18th. A six-week time frame means that Codi will miss all of the Maui Invitational (three games) and he would be slated to return the day of the Rutgers game (November, 30th). It's very possible under this scenario, that he misses seven games. Given that his best asset is his athleticism, the foot injury could limit his performance once he returns to action.

This means that the contributions from freshman Bryant Crawford will be even more important. It's now almost guaranteed that the 4-star recruit will be the team's starting point guard to start the season. He's very capable of stepping in, but fans will remember that Codi took some time to adjust to the college game. Mitchell Wilbekin will need to provide additional support in point guard duties.

This news is crushing for a team that faces a very difficult non-conference schedule. Get well soon, Codi.
