Brandon Robinson, 6-5, 190 lbs wing guard from Douglas County HS in Georgia has become UNC's second commitment of the 2016 class joining big man Tony Bradley.

Robinson made the announcement in a ceremony at his high school just after 2:30 PM. According to a local reporter onsite, Robinson cited UNC academics and Hubert Davis as key in his decision.

Robinson considered Louisville, Georgia Tech, Florida State and Georgia. He visited UNC the weekend of September 11th. Prior ot that he had taken official visits at Louisville and Georgia Tech.

A survey of the relevant recruiting news sites have Robinson ranked between 55th and 76th in the 2016 class. Scout and 247 Sports both have him at #55 with ESPN ranking him 61st and Rivals 76th. Scout has Robinson as the #9 shooting guard in the class.

After an extended drought of elite commitments and facing the possibility of the NCAA uncertainty keeping recruits from pulling the trigger, Roy Williams and Co. have now snagged two 2016 commits this month. Top 30 big men Tony Bradley served as a nice breakthrough for UNC in early September and now Robinson joins him giving UNC to critical pieces.

These commitments could finally generate some much needed momentum. A Final Four run and the NCAA passing on penalties for men's basketball could have UNC's recruiting back up to speed heading into the meat of the 2017 cycle.
