Game Recap

Sophomore Codi Miller-McIntyre scored 20 of his team-high 26 points in the second half as Wake Forest fell 87-78 to No. 2 Kansas in the opening round of the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament. The Deacs were behind 40-26 at halftime, but Wake made an 11-2 run out of the locker room to spark the comeback.

Highly touted freshman Andrew Wiggins led Kansas (5-0) with 17 points and 4 rebounds on the afternoon. Frank Mason and Joel Embiid also reached double figures for the Jayhawks, scoring 13 and 10, respectively.

Three other Deacs scored in double figures: Tyler Cavanaugh (11), Madison Jones (10) and Coron Williams (10). Foul trouble plagued Wake Forest, with Arnaud William Adala-Moto fouling out and Devin Thomas being ejected after receiving two technical fouls. Free throws were once again an issue, as Wake Forest (5-1) went 18-29 from the line in the loss.

The Deacons next face the USC Trojans at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The Trojans were 93-79 losers to Villanova in the early game of the afternoon session. The game will be broadcast on AXS TV.
