Playing down the street from the Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, MA, the Minutemen defeated the Eagles, 76-74. It was the first time these two in-state rivals had played in 11 years. Boston College trailed by as many as 14 in the second half, before rallying back to take a seven-point lead with six minutes left. However, two free throws by UMass with five seconds left put the Minutemen in front, and a shot by Donald Hand Jr. at the buzzer hit off the front rim. Hand led BC with 18 points, 15 of which came in the second half. Chase Forte and Boden Kapke each scored 12 points for the Eagles. UMass' Marcus Banks scored a game-high 29 points, hitting six three-pointers and also grabbed seven rebounds. Daniel Hankins-Sanford added 17 points.
