In a battle of Texas teams, the SMU Mustangs defeated the Texas A&M Aggies, 93-80 in Arlington. SMU led by as many a 15 in the second half, but Texas A&M ended regulation on a 20-8 run to get the game to overtime. In overtime, SMU was 9-9 from the free throw line and outscored Texas A&M 16-3. SMU's Jaron Pierre Jr. was the player of the game, scoring 35 points on 13-21 shooting. Boopie Miller finished the game with 19 points, six rebounds, four assists, and two steals. B.J. Edwards was just a little shy of recording a triple-double, with nine points, nine rebounds, and 11 assists. Texas A&M was led by Marcus Hill, who had 25 points, seven rebounds, and two assists. Rashaun Agee had a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds.
