The nations leading scorer is transferring for his final year in the NCAA, might he land at Wake Forest?

Jeff Goodman tweeted yesterday that former Niagara shooting guard Antoine Mason has been contacted by several schools, including Wake Forest, Virginia Tech, and Boston College.

This is good news, as Mason not only has a great pedigree of basketball to his name in his past, but he also led the NCAA in scoring for the Purple Eagles with 25.6 PPG.

Mason is in extremely high demand, with no less than 20 schools contacting him since he announced that he would graduate from Niagara and spend his final year at another school.

Son of former Knicks standout Anthony Mason, Antoine will have one more year at a school of his choosing.

Mason did a lot of his damage at the free throw line, where he got to the charity stripe an astounding 11 times per game. He only shot 29% from behind the three-point line, but has a great ability to get to the basket.

Last year Mason ranked 8th in the country in minutes played (94.1% according to Ken Pomeroy), and 6th in the nation in FD/40 minutes at 8.0.

The Deacs are in the running for several key transfers, including Antoine Mason, Andrew White (Kansas), and Terry Henderson (West Virginia). Landing any of these three guys would greatly boost the chance for Coach Manning to make the NCAA Tournament in his first year at the helms in Winston-Salem.
