Terrel Hunt, Orange ready for close-up against Clemson

We're at the point in the week when everybody does all their talking about the game between the Syracuse Orange and Clemson Tigers. Let's hear what they had to say...

There's been a few good sound bites out of Clemson showcasing how little they know about us. The one OL who thought we played all our home games at MetLife was good, but I happen to like Dabo Swinney's comment today even better:

Syracuse is 2-and-2. They lost to Penn State by six points at Penn State.

Reading the transcript, it's obvious Dabo was just reading off some kind of Syracuse Football fact sheet, but I love the comment because, well, it certainly felt true and, well, Hi DOC Gross.

Swinney had high praise for Syracuse QB Terrel Hunt. As for how Hunt is feeling going into his first "real" game as a starter, he seems to have his head exactly where it needs to be:

"I want to out-shine [Tajh Boyd]," Hunt said. "I want to show people that I can compete with the best. But at the same time, that's when you start thinking about the team and it's not about you. That's when you start thinking, 'All right, enough about me. Let me get back to the team.'"

Earlier this week, RB Jerome Smith raised some eyebrows with his tweet comparing Hunt to Boyd. Smith backed it up on Tuesday:

"Saying that is, that's my quarterback," Smith said. "I know everybody is going to be talking about their quarterback, but I'm going to be talking about my quarterback a little bit. I think he's ready. It's the big one."

Julian Whigham is looking likely to see much more playing time for SU this weekend as Brandon Reddish is questionable. He talks about how he prepares for the big threats of Sammy Watkins and Martavis Bryant:

"I'm preparing more like a starter," Whigham said. "That's my main goal, knowing I'll be coming in a lot more at corner. So my focus now is to really be sound at corner and making sure I know what I'm doing and be on top of everything."

And then there's Macky MacPherson and his mega-chops. Orange Wolverine is excited about the chance to play Clemson and prove SU can hold their own. He's also hoping for a little help on Saturday.

I know that crowd noise is gonna be crucial...if we can get 52,000 people in the Dome, it would be a great experience for us. And I know it would make life a lot harder for those other guys wearing orange.

I assume Macky is including the players and coaches in that number count since capacity is 49,262, but I appreciate the sentiment.
