Syracuse's Tyler Roberson Cleared To Play By NCAA

Incoming Syracuse basketball freshmen forward Tyler Roberson's long wait to join his new team has reportedly come to an end, say CBS' Jon Rothstein.

Recruits Scoop's Alex Kline has confirmed the report, as did SNY.tv's Adam Zagoria:

"The NCAA has reviewed Tyler’s waiver and issued him full qualifier status," the source said.

The 6-foot-9 forward out of Roselle (N.J.)  Catholic is currently taking courses at Syracuse, the source said, and had been anxiously waiting to see if his transcript met the NCAA’s minimum standards for incoming student-athletes to be eligible to play as freshmen.

Oddly enough, Roberson's clearance comes less than an hour after ESPN college basketball personality Jay Bilas was, again, attacking the NCAA for its slow decision making on this matter.

(Is it me or is the NCAA just watching Bilas' Twitter feed and reacting to what he says lately?)

Anyway, the latest chapter in SU basketball and the NCAA seems to have reached an end. This mean the 31st-ranked recruit for the Class of 2013, according to ESPN, will be in uniform this season. This is good news for all Orange basketball fans, maybe, not so good news for freshman teammate B.J. Johnson.
