By the time it was 20-0, you kinda sorta had a feeling the Syracuse Orange were going to have it easy Thursday night. Call it a hunch.

That turned into a 48-8 halftime lead and the Orange followed that all the way to a 77-35 beating of Bishop's University.

Trevor Cooney, congrats on doing positive thing!

Trevor Cooney inflicted the most early damage. The Orange shooting guard, who struggled through a 4-for-14 game in Wednesday's win over McGill University, scored 11 first half points. He buried two straight 3-pointers, then recorded another bucket off a driving layup. His third 3-pointer came in the second quarter. By then, the Orange led 29-5.

As for Cooney, Donna Ditota asked him about the interrogation he gets following every game about his shooting performance. The redshirt sophomore seems pretty level-headed about the reactions.

"I get it. I mean, I came in as a shooter and I sat out the one year so it was kind of like a lot of stuff was talked about before I even played a game," he said. "And then, when that happens, people expect a lot."

B.J. Johmson ended up leading the Orange with 20 points, followed by Cooney with 13 points and Jerami Grant with 10. Tyler Ennis scored nine and dished out four assists in another showcase of his point guard skills.

C.J. Fair sat this game out with a bruised left leg. He said it was his choice and it remains to be seen if he'll play Friday.

SU's team field goal percentage was 44.4%.

The Orange leave Montreal 2-0, having outscored their opponents 157-75. They now head to Ottawa to take on the team who poses the biggest threat of the four-game stint, the Carleton Ravens. They'll tip Friday night at 7:30 p.m.
