Rondale Watson to Transfer from Wake Forest

The sophomore guard will be leaving the program.

ESPN's Jeff Goodman reported this evening that Wake Forest sophomore Rondale Watson will be transferring. He will have two years of eligibility remaining, but must sit out next season. He averaged 3.1 points and shot 39% from the field in 15 minutes per game. At this time it is unknown where he will transfer, but he is originally from West Virginia. We at Blogger So Dear wish him the best of luck moving forward. What does this loss mean for Wake Forest moving forward?

Danny Manning now has two scholarships at his disposal. In my opinion, the best strategy moving forward would be to land two graduate transfers during this cycle, and then have two scholarships available for the 2017 recruiting class. It's possible that additional attrition will occur, but as of now, Manning will have at least two scholarships available for the class of 2017, assuming that he doesn't bring in another transfer who is not a graduate transfer.

Next year's roster, as it stands, will have 4 freshmen, 4 sophomores, and 3 juniors. Wake Forest will be young for the 10,000th year in a row it seems like. Wake would benefit from adding some experienced players, who can create their own shot. It also opens up the possibility of Manning adding one grad transfer, and one player like Presbyterian's DeSean Murray.  Of course, Wake will probably have some tough competition for Murray. No matter what, it's going to be very interesting to see what Manning and his staff look to add over the coming months.
