Following a weather delay, the storm made offense a premium for both the UCF and Pitt squads. Pitt's defensive unit controlled the trenches early, grinding out a first-half shutout sparked by a fourth-down stop from Raion Strader. Running back Damon Ferguson Jr. provided the spark on the ground by punching in a second-quarter touchdown to give the Panthers control. Quarterback Mason Heintschel paced the aerial attack with 212 passing yards, helping Pitt handle the elements to lock down a 12-7 non-conference victory.
