Pitt Senior Guard Sidy N’Dir out 4-6 weeks with leg injury

The grad transfer has been contributing well so far this season

Welp, this sucks. Pitt backup guard Sidy N’Dir will be out 4-6 weeks after a leg injury suffered during the game against Maryland Eastern Shoe this past Saturday.

“This is an unfortunate injury for Sidy as we felt he was really beginning to get back into form,” said Capel. “He will be sidelined for 4-6 weeks with this leg injury, but we are confident that with rest and rehab he will be back as quickly as possible.”

Sidy was certainly not garnering as much attention as Xavier Johnson or the other freshmen were, but I thought he was having a very good year so far. He’s been able to do a little bit of everything, and has added to the athleticism of the team well. He’s averaged 7.2 points per game to go with 3.0 assists per game. He did not have a great game against WVU, but did have his season best against Pitt’s best win in St Louis going 13 points on 5-8 shooting.

He’s had a couple highlight dunks to rival Xavier Johson and Trey McGowens as well.

Sidy getting back in four weeks would put him back at around the home game versus #11 Florida State game on 1/14/19. Six weeks would be either the Louisville game on 1/16/18 or Clemson on 1/29/19.

There’s a possibility N’Dir could apply for a medical redshirt waiver from the NCAA, as N’Dir was injured 9 games into the 2016-2017 season, which is less than 30% of the games New Mexico State played that year.

Due to both transfer and now injury, Jeff Capel’s rotation is certainly tighter than it was.
