Game Recap

The Maryland Terrapins started off sluggish, but then outscored the Demon Deacons by 19 over the final 30 minutes en route to a 71-60 win in what was the final ACC regular season matchup between these two schools. This was Maryland's eighth consecutive victory over the Demon Deacons, which is the longest in this series' history--a series that dates back to the ACC's inception in 1953.

Nick Faust was the difference maker for Maryland; the sophomore went 4-7 from beyond the arc and finished with a career-high 20 points. In total, Maryland had five players score in double figures, surprisingly Dez Wells was not one of them as he only contributed six.

Wake Forest actually won the rebounding battle 38-35, but turned the ball over on more than 25% of their possessions (18 turnovers) compared to just 17% (12 turnovers) for Maryland. A big reason Wake Forest won the rebounding battle was Devin Thomas. The sophomore finished with 11 points, 15 rebounds and 3 blocks before fouling out of the contest.

Wake Forest (14-12, 4-9) must now take their six-game losing streak to Chapel Hill to take on the North Carolina Tar Heels (18-7, 8-4). The Deacs beat the Tar Heels 73-67 earlier in the season, but the Tar Heels have won seven in a row and are starting to look like the team who was knocking off the likes of Louisville and Michigan State at the beginning of the season. The game is slated for a noon tip-off.
