Game Recap

There will be one more game at the KFC Yum Center in 2018.

Hot shooting from a pair of reserves and a second straight rowdy crowd at the KFC Yum Center lifted Louisville to an 84-68 win over Middle Tennessee in the second round of the NIT Sunday night.

With the victory over the Blue Raiders, U of L assured itself of playing one more home game. Top-seeded Baylor was upset by No. 4 seed Mississippi State earlier in the day, which means the Cards will host the Bulldogs with a trip to the NIT Final Four in New York on the line.

Despite a deeper three-point line because of the experimental rules being utilized by the NIT, Louisville connected on 11 of its 21 attempts from beyond the arc on Sunday. Reserves Jordan Nwora and Ryan McMahon led the outside assault, shooting a combined 8 of 15 from deep and scoring 17 and 15 points, respectively. Ray Spalding led U of L with 18 points on 8 of 11 shooting from the field.

After seeing the energy and effort (and scores) that the last two games produced, I couldn’t be happier that we’re getting one last tilt inside the Yum.

Let’s win the whole thing.
