Game Recap

Louisville basketball in February. Four of the most beauitful words you’ll ever hear.

A nearly week-long layoff proved to be no problem for No. 6 Louisville, which went to Chestnut Hill and thumped Boston College, 90-67 Saturday afternoon in front of a tame crowd that seemed more fixated on the question of how many touchdown passes Tom Brady might throw a day from now.

Donovan Mitchell and Deng Adel each went 7 of 10 from the field to tie for the team-high in points with 19. Mitchell also added four steals, three assists and three rebounds. It was also another big game for the suddenly red-hot Mangok Mathiang, who came off the bench to score 16 points on 7 of 11 shooting.

Maybe the most impressive thing about this Louisville team right now is that they’re not just beating the teams they’re supposed to, they are hammering them. That’s something that no other team in the conference has been able to do over the course of the last five weeks.

The next step for the Cards, obviously, is to start doing a better job against the teams that are with them at the top of the league standings. That starts in just 48 short hours against Virginia.
