Louisville men’s basketball has reportedly landed a commitment from 6’8 power forward Mouhamed Camara from Senegal.
The 20-year-old has been playing for NBA Academy Africa, a basketball training center for elite male and female prospects in Africa, since 2022.
Regarded as a 4-star prospect by 247 Sports, Camara averaged 10.7 points, 7.1 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 2.8 steals, and 2.5 blocks per game this past year at NBA Academy Africa. He shot 37.5 percent from three, and over 60 percent from the field overall.
“A competitive spirit, defensive intensity, he’s a terrific teammate, he’s a winner, and he has a good feel for the game,” Camara’s high school coach, Roland Houston, told 247Sports. “Obviously, he comes from the same background as Gorgui Dieng, which the Louisville fans are aware of. He’s just an unbelievable, all-around good person, but he is a tough kid.”
Camara becomes the second international prospect on Louisville’s 2025-26 roster, joining fellow big man Sananda Fru from Germany.
It’s hard to forecast exactly how much Camara will be ready to contribute this season, but there’s clearly a very high upside here. More importantly, his high school coach compared his character to Gorgui Dieng’s. With that being the case, I would take him even if he didn’t have hands.
